National Chip Week 2014 – Be part of it!

Chips17-23 February 2014 sees National Chip Week 2014 in Britain, with events being held around the country.

The 2014 Chip Week website has some fascinating facts about chips.  Did you know that:

  • more than 250 million fish and chip meals are sold in the UK each year or that over 1.6 million tonnes of potatoes are made into chips every year in the UK – the equivalent weight of 14,000 blue whales!
  • The largest serving of chips was 448kg in Southend on Sea in June 2011 , while the largest serving of fish and chips was in London in July 2012 and weighed 47.75kg, of which the chips weighed 43.24kg.
