Stone an avocado

This cooking skill is all about how to stone an avocado.  Avocado is used in many great tasting dishes and this shows how to remove the stone from the avocado so you can get to the avocado flesh.

Stone an avocado – step by step guide

  1. Cut the avocado in half lengthways.
  2. Slightly twist the two halves between your fingers and they should separate, leaving the large stone inside one half.
  3. Hold the half with the stone in the palm of your hand or on a chopping board.  Very carefully, chop into the stone with the heal of your chef’s knife.  When you pull the knife away, the stone will come away with it.

You could try to grow your avocado stones.  With any luck, they will grow into very nice house plants.
