Bun glaze

This cooking skill is all about making a bun glaze.  A bun glaze is used in recipes such as hot cross buns,  Chelsea buns and currant buns as it gives yeast goods a lovely sheen.

Bun glaze – a step by step guide

Ingredients

  • 5tbs granulated sugar
  • 5tbs cold water

Method

  1. Put the sugar into a small saucepan
  2. Add the water and bring to a gentle boil over a medium heat on the stove until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid becomes a little bit sticky and syrup like.
  3. Keep warm until required
