Rum syrup

Rum syrup – just perfect for rum babas!

This sauce recipe is for a rum syrup.  This rum syrup recipe is used in other recipes such as rum babas.

Ingredients – as required | Preparation time 15 mins

  • 250ml cold water
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 5 tablespoons rum

Method

  1. Pour the water into a small clean saucepan, and add the sugar and lemon juice.
  2. Place on the hob over a low heat and heat gently until all the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Remove from the hob and stir in the rum.  Allow the rum syrup to cool.
  4. Use your rum syrup when required.
